How to incorporate more plant based foods and products into your life

Happy New Year everyone! I hope you’ve had a wonderful Christmas and are ready for an amazing new year. I love January, as it feels like a fresh start, time to set intentions for the year ahead and kick start our health after the festivities.
You may or may not have heard about Veganuary, a vegan movement looking to inspire people to eat more plant based foods and lead a more ethical lifestyle. Going plant based doesn’t just mean stopping at foods, switching to vegan and cruelty free beauty, personal care and home based products is just as important. Here are some top tips from us to hopefully help you change to a more plant based lifestyle.
Switch to plant based milk
One of the easiest switches is changing your milk from dairy to plant based. There are so many amazing alternatives available, which are so delicious and are also packed full of beneficial nutrients. A favourite of mine is Oatly - the Barista edition is especially good with your coffee. You can also get Rice milk, Almond, Hemp, Soya, Hazelnut and Coconut. Hazelnut is incredible for hot chocolate and I love almond for baking!

Get inspired!
It can be quite daunting knowing where to start when trying to introduce a new way of eating. I would recommend someone such as Deliciously Ella as a fantastic place to begin. Her recipes are both interesting and healthy and she also has a mobile app and numerous books to take inspiration from. There are also hundreds of other people on places like Instagram and Pinterest with amazing recipes to choose from. Please remember though, not getting the right amounts of proteins, fats and carbohydrates can lead to problems, so it is important to keep health a priority and take inspiration from people who know what they are doing.

Don’t just stop with food
There are so many mainstream products that have hidden, nasty ingredients such as palm oil and animal derived fillers. Some are also tested on animals. These include skincare, bath & body, home fragrance, cosmetics and cleaning products. So why not try switching some of these every day items to plant based and more sustainable options too? All of our products are 100% natural, vegan and cruelty free so you can have confidence in choosing any of our range. For cosmetics check out Glow Organic who have an amazing selection of natural beauty and skincare, as well as providing advice on how to get started with natural beauty. There are also many fantastic cleaning products available now such as Ecover.

Be open to trying new things
The world really is changing and there are so many plant based products out there now. Its easy to think some of these sound weird when you have been eating a certain way for so long, but it is important to be open and give things a go! For example, there are such a huge amount of healthy vegan cheeses and yogurts out there which taste absolutely incredible. Why not head to a local vegan fair such as Vegfest where you can try a lot of these products out? Also have a look in organic supermarkets such as Planet Organic, Wholefoods and Infinity Foods as they stock a huge selection. You may well be pleasantly surprised!
So wherever you are on your journey, I hope this has helped give you some inspiration! Happy Veganuary!
